AP Govt sanctions 20 new polytechnics colleges under SV veterinary varsity

Tirupati: To overcome the  shortage of technicians in veterinary and fisheries fields, the AP government took a decision to set up private polytechnic colleges under the SV Veterinary University, Tirupati affiliation.  In recent cabinet meeting, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has given green signal to start 20 private colleges under SV University.

It may be noted that already more than 16 polytechnic colleges are conducting polytechnic diplomas with 10th class qualification in Veterinary, Dairy and Fisheries fields in the State.

Higher officials predict that by 2022 there will be a huge need for qualified technicians in Veterinary, Dairy and Fisheries fields.  Hence, the AP government has approved the proposal  submitted by the department of Animal Husbandry.

With new decision of government, 11 veterinary polytechnic colleges and 9 fisheries colleges would start from forthcoming academic year 2019-20.  Already in the state coastal district farmers are practicing aquaculture and fisheries producing. Moreover, SVVU also establishing world class fish testing lab at Undi in Bheemavaram of West Godhavari district.

According to information, above new colleges will be established covering all the 13 districts. These new colleges will  start as per the SV Veterinary academic rules.

The SVVU Vice-Chancellor  Y Haribabu  said to The Hans India  that by the establishment of new polytechnic colleges in veterinary, dairy and fisheries fields many employment opportunities will be generated at village level. The State government has given permission to start 20 polytechnic colleges.

Further the V-C added that though government approved the proposal for starting new colleges, University should send experts committee to new colleges check whether the needed facilities are available or not in that college premises. After careful examination only  we will give our SVVU affiliation to new polytechnic colleges.
