Chandrababu Naidu allocated more funds to SC, STs in budget than PM Modi’s: Karem

Chittoor: AP State SC, ST Commission chairman Karem Sivaji stated on Wednesday Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has allocated more funds to SCs and STs than the allocation made in the Union Budget. He said State allocated Rs 54,464 crore to SCs and STs whereas Central government’s budget allocation to SCs and STs for entire country was Rs 77,480 crore. 

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Sivaji came down heavily on Prime Minster Narendra Modi for weakening democracy by interfering in Constitutional and statutory institutions. Sivaji alleged that the PM is acting like a dictator and filing cases against opponents across the country. 

The SC panel chief appreciated the TD government for launching several initiatives for the development of SC, ST and BCs. He mentioned all the backlog posts pertaining to SCs and STs were filled and compensation paid to victims of various atrocities. Later, Karem attended a review meeting convened over implementation of rule of reservation in various government departments.  

Other members of the commission K Narahari Vara Prasad, Siveri Abraham and Kusuma Kumari were present. District collector P S Pradyumna has explained to panel chief and members about the progress of various welfare schemes meant for SCs and STs in the district. Other officials have participated in the review meeting.
