Cricket betting racket busted, 7 held

Kakinada: The East Godavari police arrested 7 persons and recovered Rs 1.70 lakh in cash and Rs 15 lakh worth of equipment used for conducting illegal betting on Sunday. 

Disclosing the details to media persons at district police office here on Sunday, SP Vishal Gunni said the CCS police laid a trap on a tip-off and conducted a raid on Cheektla Eswara Rao of Yallavari Street, Kakinada and six others.  

The accused were identified as Dandu Gopalakrishna Raju of Unguturu in West Godavari, K Praveen Kumar of Secunderabad, M Kalyan of Bhimavaram, A Jagadish Prasad of Bhimavaram, Kalidindi Raviteja of Unguturu in West Godavari.

The police also recovered equipment used for cricket betting worth of Rs 15 lakh. According to police, special police teams were sent to Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Vizag for further investigation.
