Maritime sector geared to attract investments: Visakhapatnam Port Trust chief
Visakhapatnam: The interactive road show for Maritime Conclave-2019 has been organised by Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) in coordination with Confederation of Indian Industry, in the city on Tuesday.
While inaugurating the event, Chairman, VPT, M T Krishna Babu has said that the basic purpose of Indian Maritime Sector is to propagate the importance of investment opportunities and attraction of investments, policy measures and policy changes.
During the Maritime Summit-2016 many investors promises have been fulfilled for the investments made and now in the upcoming conclave, about 30 countries are participating as 100 per cent FDI is allowed.
Krishna Babu stated that the Union government’s Sagarmala Project, the modernisation of the port has been taken up with much vigour. “The maritime conclave is gearing for better investment opportunities for various Companies and in creating a congenial atmosphere and confidence.
Various stakeholders, and other business firms have been invited. The good suggestions and feedbacks have been taken and would be submitted in the upcoming Maritime Conclave-2019 at Bhubaneswar,” Krishna Babu said.
While presiding the programme, Chairman, CII, Visakhapatnam, informed that the Ministry of Shipping and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas are organising the Maritime Conclave-2019 to be held at Bhubaneswar from February 14 to 15.
Deputy Chairman, VPT has stated that the Maritime Summit-2016 concept was the progress of port-led development process for the country, the plan of the Sagarmala Project and attracting investment and business participation.
D K Rai, Director, Ministry of Shipping, Murali Krishna, Chairman, CII, Visakhapatnam, Saikat Roy Chowdhury, Director, Energy and Infrastructure, CII, the representatives of PPP Operators, BOT Operators, Stevedores, Shipping Liners, and other PSUs attended the Interactive Session.
