Bag lifting gang busted, 9 held

Tirupati: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested a nine-member gang here on Thursday involved in stealing bags and recovered Rs 2.91 lakh worth gold ornaments and Rs 30,000 cash from them.
CCS DSP R Ravisankar Reddy said eight members of the gang belong to Karnataka State and were involved in several bag stealing cases. N Madhu, only one accused in the gang belongs to Chirala of Prakasam district.
The CCS sleuths were able to nab them based on the CCTV footage at Tiruchanur temple. The DSP stated modus operandi of this gang is acting like passengers at bus stand and railway stations for stealing the ornaments and money from the co-passengers. Later, CCS cops sent them to judicial remand.
