Srikakulam records moderate rainfall

Srikakulam: Light to moderate rainfall recorded across Srikakulam district on Monday due to landfall of cyclone Phethai. District Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy and Joint Collector KVN Chakradhara Babu have monitored the cyclone situation round-the-clock.

They declared half day holiday for all government educational institutions on second shift and private educational institutions declared holiday in the wake of cyclone warning issued by the IMD. Leave were cancelled for all government officials and they have been asked to join in duties immediately to serve better to affected people.

In total, the district has recorded  249.02 mm rainfall till evening and the average rainfall recorded in district is 6.6 mm. Highest rainfall recorded in Vangara mandal as 44.8 mm, followed by Veeragattam mandal 20.4 mm, Regidi mandal 14.8 mm, Kotturu mandal 11.8 mm, Ranastalam mandal 11.6 mm, LN Peta mandal 10.4 mm and in other mandals, the rainfall recorded as below 10 mm.

Control rooms also arranged at collectorate and other three revenue divisional offices across the district to monitor cyclone round-the-clock. Toll free numbers also set up at collectorate to inform public on cyclone related incidents.
