Chandrababu Naidu hails ex-Minister Yadlapati’s contribution to farmers’ welfare

Guntur: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that former MP Yadlapati Venkata Rao worked hard to solve problems of the farmers and reminded that the latter was elected to the State Assembly thrice, worked as Minister and was also elected to Rajya Sabha.

He addressed a meeting held in the Tenali Agriculture Market Yard on the occasion of Yadlapati Venkata Rao birth centenary celebrations on Sunday.  He said the current breed of politicians should follow the ideals of leaders like Yadlapati Venkata Rao.

Naidu further said, “Everybody wants to live 100 years, Venkata Rao achieved it. Indian family system is unique in the world. Good family system is necessary for the development. We have to go forward with positive thinking. I will take steps to construct rest rooms for farmers in the Lam Farm Agriculture Research Centre and encouraging nature farming.”

He said that in spite of deficit budget, the government was implementing welfare schemes, constructed Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme and planned interlinking of Godavari-Penna rivers to overcome drought.

He recalled that the farmers voluntarily gave 36,000 acres of land for the construction of State capital. “We have taken up development works at a cost of Rs 50,000 crore in the capital,” he said.  

He said the State government was implementing welfare schemes for all sections of people and added that they have taken steps to construct 25-lakh houses to the poor. Later, the Chief Minister felicitated Yadlapati Venkata Rao and his wife. 

Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Ananda Babu, Minister for Civil Supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao, MP Galla Jayadev, AP Women’s Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari, MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad, retired Judge of Supreme Court Justice Jasti Chalameswar and former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad were among those who participated in the celebrations.
