Ongole: The municipal workers agitating for the removal of RTMS system and implementation of the old system in Ongole Municipal Corporation laid seize the house of local MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao, on Thursday.

The Ongole unit secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Workers and Employees Union and CITU, Srirama Srinivasa Rao and others met the MLA in his house and explained their demands.

He said that there are 582 municipal workers in OMC and are working in various places. In them only 380 people are working in sanitation and are covering 80000 households and other commercial establishments spread across 375 roads for 480 kilometers.

By implementing the RTMS and other systems as mentioned in the GO No 279, each individual worker is forced to cover more households and depend on the mercy of the agency.

So, Srinivasa Rao and other leaders demanded the MLA to see OMC implement old system, in which they are working with cooperation and coordination, fulfill the vacant night sanitation and health officer posts and increase the number of workers as per the population ratio.

They also demanded the MLA to see the OMC stop implementing the GO No 279, which was stayed by the high court.

They said that the MLA listened to them compassionately and assured them to settle the issue in two days by discussing it with the officials and the union leaders.
