ONGC to set up pre-fabricated toilets

Rajamahendravaram: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Rajahmundry Asset has devised an action plan to set up Swachha Solar toilets in Narsapur town of West Godavari district. The ONGC Rajahmundry Asset executive director, DMR Sekhar said that the organisation was intensely working towards realizing the goals of Swachha Bharat as envisioned by Government of India.

The ONGC already agreed to construct as many as 13 pre-fabricated toilets with an estimated cost of Rs 2.55 crore. Out of five toilets proposed for installation this year, two toilets were installed. The remaining toilets would be taken up speedily, he added.

The ONGC will install Swachha Solar toilets in 10 railway stations in a couple of months with an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore. Steamer road and main road in the town witnesses hustle and bustle of nearly 40,000 people from its surrounding villages. The two roads always be busy as the entire commercial activity was centered on two roads.

The toilets help the visiting people to attend to their nature calls. Each unit has two male and female cabins fitted with special features and plans are afoot to arrange napkin vending units within the female cabins and feasibility and study is in progress, he added.
