Tata Group, Andhra University to collaborate in research, says Ratan Tata

Visakhapatnam: Chairman of Tata Group Ratan Tata has announced that the group would think of joining hands with the Andhra University in the research field. Plans would be drafted for joint research activities by the Tata Group and Andhra University, he added.

Ratan Tata was the chief guest at the Andhra University’s Grand Alumni Meeting held at AU Convention Centre here on Monday. While addressing thousands of Andhra University’s  former and present students and faculty members, Ratan Tata stressed on the need for inter-disciplinary research activities on various issues. In view of the present and futuristic challenges, the Universities should focus on more research activities coordinating with the various science departments. 

The studies and researches should be conducted taking into consideration the need of the industries also, he added. The education system should also link-up with the commerce, economics and business world to ensure better outcomes, Ratan Tata opined.

Talking about Visakhapatnam city and his visit to Andhra University, he complemented that the city was very clean and green. The association with the Andhra University would be one of the most memorable events in his life, Ratan said.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao said Andhra Pradesh has stood in the third place in the education sector. He called upon the Andhra University management to establish gold medals and awards in the name of Ratan Tata honouring his visit to the university.
