Chandrababu Naidu’s nature farming drive criticised

Vijayawada: YSRCP farmers’ wing State president MVS Nagi Reddy said the agriculture sector is in deep crisis in Andhra Pradesh due to the poor rainfall registered in many parts of the State.  

He said the cultivated area has declined and the farmers in many parts of the State were selling their cattle to the slaughter houses due as drought-like situation was prevailing.  Speaking to the media at the party State office here on Monday, Nagi Reddy said Srikakulam district was badly hit due to Cyclone Titli and farmers in other districts were facing problems due to low rainfall. 

Nagi Reddy said the State government failed to release input subsidy of Rs 3,332 crore to the farmers. He alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was misleading people of the State on natural farming.

Referring to Naidu’s statement that farmers were adopting natural farming in in 5.83 lakh acres in the State, he demanded that the State government should give details of the cultivated area on nature farming to the farmers associations in the State.  He said the output with nature farming is very low and farmers can’t get much profits with it.
