Srikakulam: YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said he would amend the law if he came to power to ensure 75 per cent jobs to locals in private sector companies. He covered Ponduru and Etcherla mandals in two Assembly constituencies in the district as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra on Thursday and addressed a public meeting at Chilakapalem.

Addressing the meeting, Jaganmohan Reddy said he would make changes to laws to provide three-fourths of jobs to loacals in private sector while reacting to complaints from people that they were not getting any jobs from industries located under Etcherla Assembly constituency.

Lamenting that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was making use of even a natural calamity like Titli to his political advantage instead of doing justice to the cyclone victims, Jagan questioned the need to display flexis of Titli cyclone relief in Vijayawada and Viskhapatnam wasting huge amount on publicity.

The YSRCP chief said that weavers and farmers were the worst sufferers of the TDP rule as weavers’ societies were going to defunct in the state due to government’s negligence. Farmers are also unable to cultivate crops as water is not available as projects are yet to be completed, he said.

He said IT industry was developed more under his father and Congress chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s rule than under Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure in terms of IT exports, number of job opportunities, etc.,

He accused the TDP government of concentrating only on corporate sector and neglecting agriculture and allied sectors. Earlier in the day during his Padayatra,  villagers of Ponduru and Etcherla mandals poured their woes before him on industrial pollution, non-payment of compensation for loss of crops in the cyclone and other issues.
