Use finger millets, ration card holders told

 Undi: AP Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Ch Ramakrishna Reddy has urged the ration card holders to include finger millets and jowar in their regular food and reduce consumption of rice which leads to many diseases.

He inaugurated IOC filling station at NRP Agraharam in the mandal on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, the Civil Supplies chairman said that the government was supplying finger millets and jowar at Re 1 a kg each for the ration card holders. 

About 1.463 crore families were getting rice at Re 1 a kg at the rate of five kgs to each member of ration card holders. They were also getting sugar, red gram dal, salt along with finger millets and jowar. 

The government was supplying finger millets and jowar free of cost as the dealers were getting Re 1 commission on the supply of each kg of finger millets and jowar. 

He said consumption of rice would be the reason for diseases like diabetes and blood pressure. The white ration card holders should consume  finger millets and jowar instead of rice to stay healthy, he suggested.

He also informed that the government was supplying iodised salt at Rs 12 per kg.
