1,200 tricycle scooters distribution today

Vijayawada: AP Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Assistance Corporation chairman G Koteswara Rao said that the government would distribute as many as 1,200 tricycle scooters to the physically challenged on Monday across the state under Andhra Pradesh Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Assistance Corporation (APDA and SCAC).

He informed that Minister Nara Lokesh would distribute about 59 vehicles to the beneficiaries at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium (IGMC) to mark 59th ‘World Disabled Day’ on December 3.

Addressing the media here at IGMC on Sunday, Koteswara Rao said that State government was distributing tricycle scooters for free to eligible persons who have been suffering with 80 percent disability. 

He said that APDA and SCAC would give more vehicles to the eligible persons in phases. About Rs 14 crore had been allocated for the purchase of vehicles. 

He recalled that laptops were handed over to the disabled degree students, and said that the State government had allocated Rs 161 crore funds for well-being of disable persons and senior citizens.
