Aurabindo workers launched hunger stir

  • Company management neglecting demands for 14 year

Srikakulam: Aurabindo Pharmaceutical company workers launched hunger stir on Sunday in Ranastalam mandal under the aegis of CITU.

They launched hunger campaign through bike rally and covered all 26 villages in Ranastalam mandal. Speaking on the occasion CITU state vice president, Duppala Govinda Rao said that as a last weapon workers initiated hunger stir. 

The company management has been neglecting demands of the workers and its affected villagers for the last 14 years said CITU state vice president. Residents of all 26 affected villages due to Aurabindo pollutants are demanding jobs for locals and they asked funding for development of their villages under corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme but the management not considering CITU leader explained. 

About 3,500 persons are working in the company they have been demanding minimum wages, provident fund, medical insurance etc but the management not yet consider their repeated pleas CITU leader remembered. 

We are planning to explain foolish attitude of the management towards locals, affected villages and workers as part of hunger stir Duppala Govinda Rao elaborated. CITU division secretary, P.Tejeswara Rao, Aurabindo workers union leaders, S.SeethaRama Raju, I.Bangaru Raju and others lead the agitation in the
villages.
