Food panel chief warns staff involved in Public Distribution System fraud of action

Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh State Food Commission Chairman JR Pushpa Raj has warned of taking action against those who are responsible for irregularities in Public Distribution System (PDS). He came to Kadapa as part of his 3-day district tour.

Addressing the media here on Friday, the food panel chief said number of students in Anganwadi centres, welfare hostels and schools are only on paper than the original number. Pushpa Raj stated that he detected large scale of irregularities during inspection in welfare hostels, Anganwadi centres, schools and fair price shops. The food panel chief instructed the officials concerned to initiate action against erring staff.

He mentioned that most of social welfare hostels in the district are lacking basic facilities especially the girls’ hostels. He directed the administration to initiate steps for improving amenities in hostels.

Pushpa Raj said that action would be initiated against card holder, rice mill owner and wholesale dealer apart from ration shop dealer to curb black marketing of PDS essentials. Joint Collector-2 Siva Reddy and other officials were present.
