BJP encourages new team for ensuing polls in State

Vijayawada: The recent appointment of Parliamentary constituency conveners by the BJP indicate that the national leadership of the party is selecting new team of leaders in the party for the forthcoming elections in the State. AP BJP former president and Visakhapatnam MP K Hari Babu’s name is missing in the list of Parliamentary constituency conveners.

On the other hand, former Union minister Daggubati Purandeswari has been appointed as party convener for the Ongole parliamentary constituency, while former DGP Dinesh Reddy for Nellore and former IAS officer KV Rao for Anakapalli were also selected for convener posts.

The sitting Narasapuram MP Gokaraju Ganga Raju retained his post and senior leader Kandula Rajamohan Reddy was selected for Kadapa. Another senior leader and former Union minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao  is also not in the list. 

According to sources, MP K Hari Babu is not happy with internal developments in the party. Priority is not given to all the followers of  M Venkaiah Naidu since he was elected as Vice-President of India.

It is a known fact that Hari Babu is the staunch supporter of Venkaiah Naidu and also senior leader in the party.  In fact, he expected place in the Central Cabinet, but the BJP national leadership did not give him the chance. Apart from this, the BJP did not fulfil the promise of Visakha railway  zone. 

S Vishwanatha Raju has been appointed convener for Visakhapatnam constituency and he is getting ready to contest for Parliament. Vishwantha Raju said that his name was recommended by MP Hari Babu. Speaking to The Hans India, he said that he is also in the party for the last 25 years.

Former Union minister D Purandeswari was selected as convener for Ongole parliamentary constituency. Her family has strong track record in the constituency and she may contest from Ongole or Vijayawada after finalising the political alliance in the state, said a senior leader.
