NTR lauded for improving lives of fishermen
Srikakulam: Former chief minister and TDP founder N T Rama Rao started various schemes for development of fishermen community in the state for the first time, remembered Zilla Parishath Chairperson Ch Dhanalaxmi and MP K Rammohan Naidu.
Participating in the World Fishermen Day celebrations here on Wednesday, they said NT Rama had Rao launched several steps for improvement of fishermen lives particularly those who are residing all along the sea coast villages. They said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was planning to improve financial status of fishermen by implementing various schemes.
They said the TDP government is providing various schemes for welfare of fishermen including pension, subsidy on purchasing of various essentials like nets and boats. They recalled that the government had paid compensation amount within 25 days to fishermen who lost their nets and boats due to Titli cyclone.
TDP government is committed to fulfill all assurances given to fishermen during 2014 elections including inclusion of fishermen into ST category. They said the government had appointed a committee with experts on the issue to study on conditions of the fishermen. Srikakulam MLA G Laxmidevi also spoke. Officials of various departments attended the programme.
