The minister informed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had sanctioned Rs 100 crore for housing to scribes in the state.

The chief minister had taken up the task prestigiously as he promised houses for all accredited journalists. The credit of providing houses in entire country goes to Naidu, the minister claimed.

Srinivas said that about 19,000 accredited journalists in the state would be benefited by the housing scheme.

So far, the officials received about 5,200 applications for housing from journalists in all 13 districts. He asked the officials to receive applications from all eligible journalists.

He announced that the chief minister would lay foundation stone for housing units in second week of December. The houses would have two and three bedrooms.

It would be the option of the journalists to select the type of house. If a group of journalists want separate housing, the government would build housing block to suit their convenience, he promised.
