Eluru: District Collector K Bhaskar has directed the education officials to avoid delay in clearing bills of midday meal to the service providers to implement the scheme effectively.

He reviewed education sector with the officials here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the organisers of midday meal should promptly get the payment for the bills to ensure foolproof implementation. He wondered why the officials delaying payments to the organisers.

Stating that he would not tolerate any delay in payments under the scheme, the Collector warned that such delays would henceforth be treated as expectation of bribe from the organisers.

He also expressed his anger over use of firewood instead of LPG for cooking the food. When he sought explanation from District Education Officer CV Renuka, she blamed it on the shortage of LPG supply.

Reacting to this, the Collector said there was no such shortage of LPG cylinders and he would take action if the same situation continues. He also asked the officials to maintain kitchen gardens in schools.

The Collector also raised the issue of inordinate delays in payment of bills to organisers of midday meal scheme for the Intermediate students.

He said it would not be possible to continue the scheme if the officials delay the payments. He wanted the payments be made to the organisers on monthly-basis.
