Elderly woman robbed off gold, cash

Kurnool: An elderly woman was robbed off gold and cash by an unidentified woman at Mahanandi in the district on Tuesday. According to the available information, two women, Kothur Nagalakshmamma and her sister-in-law Giddamma, both residents of Ramallakota village in Veldurthy mandal were going to Mahanandi  on Monday.

On their way at Nandyal. an unidentified woman befriended the duo and accompanied them up to Mahanandi. All the three women slept at the temple premises on Monday night. At the time,  the unidentified woman reportedly offered a cool drink that was laced with sedatives to Nagalakshmamma and Giddamma.

The two women slipped into deep sleep and the unknown woman robbed the gold ornaments of Nagalakshmamma and fled from the place. When the duo woke on the next day, they  noticed that the ear rings and other gold ornaments besides a cash of Rs.1600 were missing. They immediately lodged a complaint with the Mahanandi police.
