Pithapuram shines with ‘Karthika lamps’

Pithapuram: Legislator SVSN Varma along with wife performed special puja at Sri Kukkuteswara Swamy Temple on the occasion of first Monday in the auspicious month of ‘Kartikam’. 

He inquired with the officials about the arrangements made for devotees. Temple Trust Board chairman Kondepudi Surya Prakasha Rao accompanied him. Earlier people thronged temples in the town before arrival of the dawn.

 They took holy dip in the pond at Padagaya. They lined up to take darshan of the presiding diety. The devotees leave kartika lamps made of banana leaves in to the pond. 

They performed ‘Kedareshwara Vratam’ in the premises of the temple. Executive Officer Pendyala Venakata Chalapathi Rao said that they made necessary arrangements to avoid inconvenience to the devotees.
