Eluru: District first additional Judge B Gopi has requested the poor and suppressed sections to avail free legal assistance extended to them by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).

He presided over the meeting organised to mark National Legal Services Day here on Friday.  Speaking on the occasion, he said that the DLSA was helping the downtrodden, women, and physically challenged to get legal services free of cost.

The DLSA was also bringing awareness among the suppressed sections on the rights guaranteed to citizens by the Constitution. It was equally important people know their responsibilities along with rights, he added.

Seventh additional Judge S Sarada Devi dwelt on the importance of literacy to know about citizens’ rights. Entire family would get benefited if mother in the family was literate.

DLSA Secretary K Sailaja said that they would be organising door-to-door awareness campaign from Friday to November 18 on the IPC Acts.
