2 die, 14 hurt in two separate incidents in Prakasam

Ongole: In two separate accidents occurred in Prakasam district on Monday, two people died and 14 others were severely injured. According to the locals, a lorry heading to Bapatla and an auto rickshaw carrying passengers from Motupalli to bapatla, travelling in opposite direction collided head-on at the straight canal, near Vetapalem. The lorry dragged the auto for some distance before taking a halt. In the incident a commuter was killed and two other passengers in the auto sustained injuries. 

The deceased was identified as Vadlamudi Yalamanda, 27, a native of Konijetipuri. The two severely injured were shifted to Chirala Government Hospital. The police took the lorry driver V Lokesh Varma, native of Narasapuram in East Godavari district into custody after treatment at the hospital. In another incident, a speeding car hit an auto rickshaw coming in opposite direction at the rivulet near Papayipalle village in Bestavaripet mandal. 

Two people were severely injured in the accident while one other person received bruises. The injured were shifted to Cumbum Government Hospital. In the accident occurred at Peerapuram in Jarugumalli mandal, an auto rickshaw turned turtle killing a passenger on the spot and injuring eight others. The police said that the auto was heading to Jallapalem from Gudlur and lost control.
