100 power charging stations planned in AP State

Guntur: As many as 100 power charging stations are likely to come up in the state soon to charge the electrical  autos, two wheelers and buses. During the first phase Southern Power Distribution Company (SPDC) will set up 30, and Eastern Power Distribution Company (EPDC) will set up 20 in the first phase.

The charging stations will come up in Guntur,Vijayawada and other cities.  In the second phase, another 50 power charging stations will be set up in other cities in the state. Following the orders of SPDCL chairman M M Naik, the district collectors directed the municipal corporation commissioners to identify the sites to set up power charging stations.

The government has taken a decision to introduce electrical buses in the state capital Amaravati and  issued a notification in this regard. Electrical two wheeler are already in the use.

Principal Secretary Tourism Department, Mukhesh Kumar Meena announced that the government will introduce electrical cars in Vijayawada city soon. At present battery operated two wheeler, autos are being charging and they are paying domestic tariff.

As a result, the power distribution companies are getting losses. According to norms, they have to take separate commercial connections to charge the vehicles. Speaking to The Hans India SPDCL chairman and Managing Director M.M.Naik said, `` We will set up 30 power charging stations and EPDCL will set up 20 power charging.

They will come up in the state within 45-days. During the second phase, another 50 power charging stations will come up. Maintenance of electrical cars and two wheelers are less compared to petrol and diesel cars.” Joint Collector AMG Imtiaz said, “ The Guntur Municipal Corporation will identify sites to set up 10 power charging stations in Guntur city.’’ ”
