Chandrababu Naidu to launch TDP membership drive today
Amaravati: TDP is going to launch the membership drive from November 1 onwards in a grand manner as a preparatory programme for the ensuing general elections.
Before that, Chief Minister and party president N Chandrababu Naidu will renew his membership as a first member in the party on October 31 at Undavalli in Guntur district. He will launch the programme formally by registering his name as a member, explained the party’s national general secretary Nara Lokesh. Lokesh informed that already the TDP membership had crossed 70 lakh mark in both Telugu speaking States.
He said that the party has been giving highest priority to the welfare of party cadre, providing insurance, education and health facilities. He said that the membership drive will be conducted for the years 2018-2020.
The party leader said that for the years 2016-18, more than 70 lakh voters registered as TDP members. Out of them, from Andhra Pradesh alone more than 64 lakh people secured membership in the party, he revealed the membership figures officially.
Lokesh said that more than 3,000 leaders will work from November 1 onwards to carry out the membership drive across the two States. He informed that from village to State level, skilled party workers and volunteers will take part in the programme.
Unlike previous years, the TDP is going to use technology in a big way in membership drive. Starting from registering the member’s name, complete details, personal information and everything will be stored through tabs. That information will be stored in the master server of party. The party volunteers will deliver membership cards, fee receipts and will explain the benefits of the membership.
The TDP general secretary further explained that to coordinate with all these 3,000 skilled volunteers, a Command Control Centre will function round-the-clock from party headquarters. Not only making the people as members, but after completing the membership drive, the party will give skill development to them, he said.
He further added that those who take the TDP membership by paying Rs 100 will get eligibility for the Bima (insurance coverage). So far, the party provided Rs 59 crore as insurance to 2,922 members in the TDP family, he said.
