Tirupati: Minister for Labour and Employment Pithani Satyanarayana appealed to Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to cooperate with the police investigation into the knife attack on him for resolving the case soon.

Speaking to the media at Tirumala after darshan of Lord Venkateswara on Sunday, the Minister said that the government was keen on conducting an impartial probe into the alleged attempt on the life of Jaganmohan Reddy and the police accordingly stepped up the investigation in the case.

They already probed the relatives of the accused and gathered vital information. They also tried to get the statement from Jaganmohan Reddy which is crucial in the case but the latter had refused to give his statement.

He said though Jaganmohan Reddy refrained from speaking on the incident, some of his senior party colleagues and others were deliberately trying to blow up the case and unnecessarily dragging Chief Minister N Chandrababu and DGP RP Thakur and demanding that they should be named as A1 and A2 respectively in the knife attack case which is deplorable.

Stating that the government would not spare anyone found guilty in the case, he however said that the motive behind the knife attack on Jagan was still not clear. “Whether he (accused) did it for creating sensation, terrorise or did it at the instigation of some others will be known only after the probe,’’ he said stressing not to politicise the case.
