YSRCP MLAs demand release of water from Mylavaram reservoir

Kadapa: YSR Congress MLAs,  along with members of farmers associations, met the District Collector CH.Harikiran on Monday and submitted a memorandum demanding release of water from Mylavaram reservoir to Papagni, Kundhu, Penna rivers for the benefit of farmers in the current rabi season.

Later speaking to media persons,  they said though rabi season commenced two months ago, farmers  under the ayacut of Papagni, Kundhu and Penna rivers failed to get water for irrigation due to several reasons. 

They said only 1500 cusecs  of water was released since last four days against actual release of  1tmcft from Mylavaram reservoir. They said 132  villages in Kamalapuram, Khajipet, Yerraguntla and Proddaturu mandals facing serious drinking water problem. Water is not supplied to the mandals though there was 4.013tmcft of water is available in Mylavaram reservoir. 

The MLAs hoped that Collector initiate immediate  action into the issue.  YSR Congress MLAs P. Ravindranatha Reddy and A. Raghu Rami Reddy, Kadapa district farmers association president M.Prasad Reddy and others were present.
