Cases booked against textile showroom for violation of rules
Vijayawada: Officials of Legal Metrology Department on Thursday conducted raids on the textile showroom in Beasant road and krishnaveni wholesale market in one town and booked 45 cases for violation of rules in packaging, for not displaying quantity, number of items, MRP price etc. Cases were booked on some prestigious showrooms in the city, including Kanchi Kamakshi, Kalamandir, Roopams, Jack N Jill, Men O Men, Stylein, Mr N Miss and Manohar in Beasant road.
Similarly, raids were also conducted on shops in Krishnaveni market. Cases were booked on Karthik Readymade, Shankeshwaa selection, Vijaya Durga Sarees, KKR Enterprises, Sri Lalitha Enterprises, Praveen Readymade, Siddhidha Distributors, Sri Kamakshi Sarees, Linga Mallu Silks and Sri Pawani Silks etc.
The raids were conducted under the supervision of PSRNT Swamy, the Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Vijayawada Zone.
Assistant Controllers Bhanu Prasad, MTS Naidu, KVS Rama Krishna and five inspectors participated in the raids.
Deputy Controller Swamy said cases were booked for violation of packages commodity rules of 2004. He said some traders have not mentioned the MRP, address of the manufacturer, date of manufacturing, quantity in the pack etc. Penalty will be levied on the traders for violation of rules. If they did not pay the penalty, notices will be served, Swamy said.
