One dies, six hurt in crackers blast

Salur (Vizianagaram): A ten-year-old boy, who sustained serious burns during the burst of crackers while taking Ganesh procession in Mamidipalli village of Salur mandal in Vizianagaram district, succumbed to his injuries at Salur community hospital here on Monday.

Speaking to media, Superintendent of Police G Palaraju said the victim has been identified as P Vijaya Kumar, a 10-year-old boy, hailed from Mamidipalli village.

The SP said the youth of Mamidipalli village organised a rally and taking the Ganesh idol in a procession to immerse it in a water tank. During the procession, they have ignited some fire crackers.

However, some fire particles dropped on a vehicle, in which they kept the crackers. In no time, the vehicle gutted, and seven people were injured in the incident. Other injured, K Vinod, K Eswara Rao and K Varun Kumar were shifted to hospital. Salur police have registered a case.
