Nellore: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) received a jolt as party senior leader and sitting ZP Chairman Bommireddy Raghavendra Reddy quit the party abruptly pointing finger at the high command for insulting him and inviting former Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy into the YSRCP and appointing him as in-charge of the Venkatagiri constituency without intimating him.

On Saturday, he had submitted resignation to the party and even ready for sacrificing the ZP Chairman post, if party asks him to do so.

Though he had not mentioned in his letter, Bommireddy would possibly be shifting loyalties to the ruling TDP.

In fact, it would be big setback to the YSRCP in the district as it develops an insecure feeling among party cadre as to who would be targeted for making way for senior leaders, who shift their loyalties from other parties.

ZP Chairman B Raghavendra Reddy planned to contest from the Venkatagiri constituency in the ensuing elections and has been preparing ground for the last four years and the party high command also approved his decision.

But, his hopes were dashed with the entry of Anam into the party. “Ramanarayana Reddy had succeeded in his efforts in the district as he would be contesting from Venkatagiri.

But, what about people who have been working for last four years continuing in the opposition without enjoying power? This kind of decision would badly impact confidence of the party cadre.

No one can explain this to the party chief,” said a senior leader. Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Raghavendra Reddy alleged that the YSRCP is giving preference for only leaders, who are having money.
“YSRCP chief had asked me in Hyderabad when I met him whether he has the ability to spend Rs 50 crore for contesting in the forthcoming elections.

YS Jagan was like a dictator and said former Minister Anam Ramanarayana is ready to spend that much amount. I was really shocked,” said Raghavendra Reddy, interacting with the media on Saturday.

He added that the YSRCP chief did not discuss anything about the change of leadership in the constituency which indicates his disrespect towards party leaders.

Raghavendra said that they have been in politics for the last 40 years and his father was MLA for three times.

“We never thought of earning big bucks by misusing political power. I think political leaders, who can spend money during elections are
 important for them,” he said.
