Students protest over problems at MRO office in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The members of Students Federation of India (SFI) staged a protest at Lenin Centre here on Thursday, demanding that the government solve the problems of students and hostellers staying in government welfare hostels.
Speaking on the occasion, SFI district president N Kotababu blamed the government for failing to implement the promises made at the time of elections.
He said that the TDP government had promised to provide free education from KG to PG, and was encouraging corporate institutions which were collecting huge fees and running the institutions without proper permissions.
He further said that residents of welfare hostels were falling sick due to lack of hygienic food. Even after four months of school reopening, the students had no textbooks at some schools.
The SFI secretary, M Someswara Rao demanded that the government release scholarships and fee reimbursement, fill vacancies at government schools, junior colleges and degree colleges.
State committee member Prasanna, Rakesh, D Gopi, Ch Surya Rao and others were present.
