Two youth from Karnataka drown at Sangam Barrage

Nellore: Two youngsters from Tumkur district in Karnataka died and four others were rescued by others when they drowned at Sangam Barrage on Wednesday. 

According to sources, 50 members from Tumkur and Sira areas of Tumkur district of Karnataka were travelling by a bus for attending the Roti festival that starts from Friday. 

They visited AS Pet Dargah on Wednesday and were on the way to Kasumur Dargah in Venkatachalam mandal. On the way, they planned to spend some time at Sangam Barrage with swimming and other recreation.

Six youngsters ventured into the river in the afternoon and they drowned in water as they were unaware of the depth of the water body. Nagma (18), and Saklayan alias Naddu (16), from Tumkur district drowned and died and other four members were rescued by local fishermen and people. 

The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarter Hospital in Atmakur for post-mortem. People from different parts of Tumkur district were travelling in a bus who basically for spending time during the Roti Fest in Nellore and the tragic incident occurred in the afternoon. Police registered a case and the investigation is on.
