Innovative ideas showcased at SV Government Polytechnic in Tirupati
- 85 projects displayed by students at district-level science event held in Tirupati
- State-level fest would be held at Visakhapatnam from Sept 23
Tirupati: Three students of SV Government Polytechnic, Sumritha, Lavanya and Jyothi, have created a ‘Smart World’ with full of security features.
In their innovated smart world, people can have tension free life from thieves, fire accidents and other such problems as the sensors they fixed at various places can detect fire, movement of human beings even in darkness and alerts the housemates with an alarm sound.
They explained that it was a low cost and simple electronic circuit instrument, which can be useful for domestic purpose or at commercial establishments like banks.
There were about 85 such projects on display at SV Government Polytechnic in Tirupati, as part of district- level Polytech Festival, 2018 held for two days.
B Indu and N Chamanthi of II shift Polytechnic at SV Perumal College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur came with an idea of Arduino based heartbeat monitoring with GSM which alerts the people about abnormal heartbeat.
The highly sensitive instrument was simple to operate. SK Chanu and A Dillibabu of the same college have displayed a speed checker to detect rash driving on highways at rural areas, which has a real time authenticating system with high sensitivity and accuracy.
Similarly, the password-based circuit breaker for maintenance, street light glow on detecting vehicle movement using ultra sonic sensor, wireless power transmission from space-based solar farms, finger print-based vehicle starter and many other interesting projects were exhibited by students of various polytechnic colleges.
An experiment showing train collision avoidance system based on GPS and microcontroller was another interesting one which designed to detect possible collisions and inform the drivers when trains travel on the same track.
Prototype seed sowing machine, free energy water pump, high speed water pump and a host of several other projects made the visitors to pay attention to them and were seen asking the details of every project curiously.
The students have explained about their projects very patiently and with full clarity of thought.
Speaking to The Hans India, the Principal of SV Government Polytechnic which hosted the festival has said that government, private and II shift polytechnic engineering colleges have participated in the event which was aimed at bringing the innovative ideas of young minds.
In all, 85 projects were displayed by 16 colleges. As it was announced at shorter notice many colleges could not take part in the festival.
Projects on electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil, computers, pharmacy, bio-medical and several other branches were kept in exhibition.
Last year, only district-level fests were held while this year a state-level fest will be held at Visakhapatnam from September 23-24 for which about 35 projects would be sent selected from 2017 and 2018 festivals, he said.
