Jangareddigudem: The AP Rytu Sangham has expressed its solidarity to oil palm farmers who have been on relay fast demanding that the state government provide remunerative price to their produce.

The sangham upland district secretary, K Srinivas along with others visited the fasting camp at a local oil palm factory on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, he criticised the state government for not providing price for oil palm.

He informed that while the neighbouring Telangana government was offering price of Rs 9,396  per tonne of oil palm, our state was giving only Rs 8.370.

There was a difference of over Rs 1,000 per tonne of the oil palm produced in Andhra Pradesh.

The farmers of the state had been incurring losses because of low price.
The state should take a cue from Telangana to help the oil palm farmers, he said.

He also insisted the factory to extend incentive of 0.5 per cent.

The sangham leader asked the government to pay transportation charges to the farmers apart from taking action against the manipulation of weighing machines.

The farmers raised slogans against the government and the owners of the oil palm factory managements for injustice meted out to the farmers.
