Bandh call evokes good response in West Godavari district

Eluru: The bandh call given by Left parties to protest the hike in fuel prices evoked good response in West Godavari district on Monday. The CPM activists took out a bullock-cart rally in Eluru. The bandh enforcers prevented RTC buses from coming out of depots since early hours. They forced closure of jute mills. They organised a bike rally and ensured closure of government offices, banks and private establishments.

Medical and sales representatives organised a scooter rally and worked for success of bandh. In Akiveedu, CPM, Jana Sena, Telugu Desam and other parties actively take part in the bandh. Education and business establishments cooperated for the bandh and remain closed. RTC buses partially operated. 

The protesters raised slogans against the Central government questioning about ‘Acche Din’ promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.The protesters blocked national highway for some time resulting in obstruction to traffic movement. They demanded that the Centre should bring skyrocketing petrol and diesel prices under GST ambit.
