GVMC Commissioner cleans drains
Visakhapatnam: With Collector Pravin Kumar was rushing to villages to check the arrangements to contain dengue and viral fevers, another top official swung action to redress the public grievances.
Commissioner of GVMC M Hari Narayanan on Tuesday participated in the sanitation drive in the city. The Commissioner cleared the drains, along with the sanitation staff and other officials. Stressing the need to maintain city clean to control the dengue and malaria fevers, the Commissioner directed the officials to make the city dry and clean to curb deadly fevers.
In fact, Hari Narayanan every day visiting various divisions and directly supervising the sanitation and other development works. However, to motivate the sanitation workers and other officials, he took an initiative and cleaned the drains at various places in the city on Tuesday.
While interacting with the locals, the Commissioner appealed to them to ensure hygiene in around their residences. He asked to remove all the unused tyres, waste water pots and flower pots and asked the resident to check the water tanks periodically.
The Commissioner also directed the sanitation workers and supervisors to be careful while discharging their duties and warned them that stringent action would be initiated if the areas are not cleaned properly. Medical health officer Dr Sudhakar and other officials accompanied the Commissioner and cleaned the drains and roads at 23 and 26 divisions.
