ASSOCHAM awards GEM sustainability certificate to Sri City

Tirupati: Sri City was awarded the prestigious ‘GEM Sustainability Certification,’ the highest achievable rating level, hosted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). 

At a colourful ceremony organised by ASSOCHAM for the formal launching of ‘GEM Sustainability Certification Programme’ held at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi, on Wednesday evening, the President (Operations) Satish Kamat received the award on behalf of Sri City from the Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology. 

Secretary General of ASSOCHAM Uday Kumar Varma presented the certificate. Expressing happiness on this unique achievement, the founder and MD of Sri City Ravindra Sannareddy said that it was a proud moment for them as it was fourth sustainability award bestowed on Sri City till date and fourth accolade during the current year.

ASSOCHAM took up a green initiative to care for the mother earth and formed a Council for Green and Eco-friendly Movement (CGEM) that would govern the ‘GEM Sustainability Certification Rating’ programme. 

This programme aims to address the sustainability of a given development throughout its lifecycle from design through construction to operation. As a part of the initiative, ASSOCHAM awards the sustainability certification rating to housing, urban development, residences, commercial establishments, hotels, colleges and universities, schools and factory buildings and developments. All existing, new and upcoming buildings can participate in this programme.
