Measures to tackle dengue begins

Kakinada: East Godavari district medical and health authorities geared up to tackle dengue cases in the district in the wake of reports of cases in some areas in the district.

According to DMHO Ramesh Kishore, some cases were reported from Kakinada Rural, Tuni and Kunavaram mandals in the district. Measures have been initiated to avert the spread of the decease to surrounding areas.

As part of this, all the 128 PHCs and CHCs were alerted to ensure medical care in case of reports of viral fevers or dengue cases.
As far as Kunavaram division was concerned, two suspected dengue cases were reported. But after attending to these cases, the doctors ruled out dengue, the DMHO clarified.

In this connection, while seeking public cooperation, the DMHO said that stagnation of water should be averted besides keeping surroundings clean. This would help prevent these places from turning into breeding grounds for mosquitoes. 

In addition to this, Panchayat authorities in rural sector and officials of municipalities were asked to take additional care in sanitation and removal of garbage regularly, the official said.
