Millets through ration shops from Oct 1: Minister

Vijayawada: Minister for Civil Supplies P Pulla Rao said that the government would supply finger millets (ragulu)   and pearl millets (sajjalu) and palm oil through ration shops from October 1. He inspected a ration shop at Nehru Nagar in Krishnalanka here on Sunday.

He said that the government aimed at supplying millets to people with nominal prices for betterment of health of the poorer sections. The Centre should give Rs 20 subsidy for supplying palm oil, he said.

The minister also said that the government already have taken steps to sale food items in shopping malls as per the rules of maximum retail price (MRP).

The government would take stringent action, if any mall violates the law, he said. The officials of civil supplies were also present, along with the minister.
