Tribal body demands govt’s stand

Visakhapatnam: With the announcement of the Central government that the NALCO is ready to establish Alumina Refinery Complex, subject to the state government allows the bauxite blocks for mining, the Andhra Pradesh Girijana Sangham demanded that the state government disclose its stand on bauxite mining in the Visakhapatnam Agency areas.

The Andhra Pradesh Girijan Sangham demanded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu disclose the state government’s stand on bauxite mining and withdrawal of the GO No. 97. If the Chief Minister did not clarify the state government stand on the bauxite mining, the Andhra Pradesh Girijana Sangha will stage a protest and oppose his visits to Paderu on August 9.

The Andhra Pradesh Girijana Sangham also demanded for the establishment of Tribal University, Special DSC to the Tribal Youth and withdrawal of the proposal to include Boya Valmikis into ST list. The Girijana Sangham called upon the tribal communities to observe Black Day on August 9 opposing the Chief Minister’s visit to Visakhapatnam agency.

In this backdrop, high alerted has been sounded during the day-long visit of Chief Minister in the agency. Chandrababu Naidu will participate in many programmes in Paderu, including Grama Darsini and International Adivasi Day celebrations.
