NTR University of Health Sciences staff stage protest in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The employees of NTR University of Health Sciences protested demanding that the government release funds for payment of salaries at the University Administrative Office here on Wednesday.

The employees association leaders said that the funds allocated by the government were not sufficient to pay the employees’ salaries for three months. 

They said that Rs 1.25 crore was released for the first quarter which was not sufficient.

Association general secretary K Rajendra Prasad said Rs 9 crore was required to pay yearly salaries as per the sanctioned posts. 

He said that the employees were suffering from insufficient funds for the last four months though the University had Rs 500 crore funds.

The employees were facing hardships by taking loans from banks as they were not getting the salaries on time in spite of the university releasing amounts to the government. 

He said that the University authorities told the employees to wait for the salaries till the Government releases fund, which was meaningless. 
Association working president MV Akkiraju said they would intensify the protest, if no action was taken by the University authorities.

K Narasimharao, honourable president, VV Narayana, secretary, G Vasu president and others participated in the protest.
