Minister Amarnath Reddy promises processing industries for West Godavari

Eluru: Minister for Industries Amarnath Reddy has said the state government was setting up various processing industries to make West Godavari an industrially developed district.

MLA Badeti Bujji and Government Whip Chintamaneni Prabhakar met the minister here on Wednesday and requested him to set up industries in the district which was backbone for the ruling TDP. 

Setting up of industries by availing the resources available would help youth in getting employment on a large scale, they opined.

Responding to their request, Reddy informed them that a special plan would be implemented for making the district a horticulture hub. 

Processing units would be set up in a big way for oil palm, lemon, mango, cashew, prawns and fish products. 

As 80 per cent of the people would be dependent on farming and allied industries, the government was keen to establish processing units. 

Many industrialists had been coming forward to set up industries in the district. As the cost of land was high in the district, obstacles were coming in the way of land acquisition, he informed.

The district achieved the distinction of exporting 30 per cent of the total aqua exports in the country, he added.
