3-day lunch-hour protests by civic staff from today
Pithapuram: To lodge their protest against suspension of municipal commissioner M Rammohan by East Godavari District Collector Karthikeya Mishra, municipal commissioners and ministerial employees across the state decided to launch a three-day lunch-hour demonstrations from Thursday.
A meeting of the Municipal Commissioners’ Association held in Eluru on Thursday felt that the District Collector had placed the municipal commissioner under suspension without valid reason.
The reason cited was dereliction of duty in revising the voters’ list and registration of new voters. The meeting expressed concern over mounting continuous pressure on the commissioners who are busy implementing various government schemes and programmes. The AP Ministerial Employees’ Association expressed its solidarity with the agitating commissioners.
Association leaders Krishna Mohan and Eswar asked their colleagues to wear black badges during the lunch-hour demonstrations. The meeting demanded immediate lifting of the suspension.
