Police plant saplings
Eluru: Acting on the directives of Director General of Police Thakur and the West Godavari District Superintendent of Police, M Ravi Prakash, the police under the guidance of Armed Reserve Additional SP M Mahesh Kumar planted saplings at police headquarters grounds here on Sunday.
The programme was taken up under Vanam-Manam programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh said that happiness and greenery were interlinked.
He briefed on Vruksho Rakshati Rakshitaha by stating that if we plant saplings, they would give back to us after growing into trees. It was our responsibility to protect trees as they give us shade and health.
Mahesh told the gathering that the trees would make air pollution-free and help in protecting ground water reserves. They also help in timely rains and purifying the air we breath.
Stating that they had prepared plans to plantation of saplings by all cops from home guard to official.
The sapling plantation would be taken up on a massive scale on police station premises and at all police quarters apart from green drive at district police headquarters.
