Chandrababu Naidu tells officials to visit villages

Amaravati: As part of the ongoing Grama Darsini–Grama Vikasam programme, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed all the department heads and collectors to visit villages in the coming 10 months. 

The officials would focus on effective implementation of 10 flagship welfare schemes such as Public Distribution System (PDS), Chandranna Bima, NTR Bharosa, NTR Vydhya Seva, Anna Canteens, SC/STs welfare and development schemes, Chandranna Pelli Kanuka and all types of scholarships during their visit to the villages.

The officials should visit villages twice in a week to know the field-level problems and resolve the issues, Naidu added. Conducting a review meeting with the HoDs and Collectors at Secretariat at Velagapudi in Guntur on Wednesday, Naidu directed them to bring a detailed plan for next 10 months on the officials’ visits to villages and municipalities.

He praised the efforts of officials for achieving good results for the past four years and said Grama Darsini was launched last week and would be continued till December-end. He asked the officials to adopt sustainable economy strategy to achieve growth rate and directed the officials to see that the delivery mechanism should be fool-proof in implementation of welfare programmes to achieve cent per cent satisfaction level of people. He said the state govt achieved highest growth rate despite the bifurcation problems.

Naidu advised the officials to make efforts to increase the ground water level during the current rainy season as farmers in rain fed areas of Rayalaseema are facing problems due to deficit rainfall. He said the state should achieve 15 per cent growth rate and should stand in number one position in the country in growth rate.

He asked the officials to prepare for next level of development by preparing action plan for sustainable development and said priority should be given to knowledge economy and employment generation. Later the Naidu reviewed the progress of government schemes.

When the officials informed Naidu that 77 per cent of satisfaction level achieved in PDS, he asked the officials to act on erring dealers to streamline the PDS and achieve cent per cent satisfaction level of people.

The officials informed that 82 per cent satisfaction level achieved in NTR Bharosa, 95 per cent in Chandranna Bima and Chandranna Pellikanuka. When the officials said that they are facing problems to issue marriage certificates performed at religious places, Naidu instructed the officials to appoint an officer to issue the certificates at Annavaram and other temples.

Stating there was good response from people towards Anna Canteens, Naidu directed the officials to complete the rest of 103 Anna Canteens by December-end and suggested to officials to develop greenery near the canteens with the help of AP Greenery and Beautification Corporation and concerned municipalities.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to speed up the housing schemes in both urban and rural areas and said more attention should be paid in implementing the welfare programmes including women and child welfare.

He announced a decision would be taken on unemployment dole in the next Cabinet meeting and the unemployed youth should be provided necessary training and skill upgradation to get adequate employment opportunities.

There should not be nutrition deficiency among children, he directed the officials to increase the number of Anganwadis and said anganwadi buildings should be constructed on a war footing.

Referring to solid waste management in rural areas, Naidu directed the panchayat officials to speed up construction of sheds to prepare compost by collecting dung at every door step in villages. He said steps should be taken to prevent spread of communicable diseases by maintaining cleanliness in villages.
