Truckers to go on strike from today
Vijayawada: The members of Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners Association will stop their trucks from Friday as part of nation- wide agitation. The Association announced the strike a few days ago following the strike call given by nation-wide transport operators. Mainly the lorry owners demanded the government to reduce the diesel and petrol prices hike.
The toll plazas operation should be stopped after completion of the toll tax collection period, the lorry owners said. They urged the government to stop the Third party insurance premium policy. Apart from this, the GST and way bills issue should be solved. They asked the government to give permission to tourist operators for operating their services as national permit services.
The harassments on drivers should be stopped, they demanded. The Krishna District Lorry Owners Association general secretary A Sadasiva Rao said that all the operators have decided to participate in the strike. He also asked the government to introduce counter signatures policy between the two Telugu States.
