Nakka Anand Babu stresses need to Plant more Saplings
Guntur: Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Anand Babu stressed on need to protect saplings planted in the Vana Mahotsavam and forests for good environment.
He addressed a meeting held at Tadikonda on the occasion of Vana Mahotsavam in Guntur city on Saturday.
Speaking on this occasion, he informed that India has 16 per cent forests coverage, while in AP it is 23 per cent. He expressed serious concern over deteriorating greenery coverage.
He said that the government targeted to plant 8 lakh saplings during Vana Mahotsavam.
The government had planned to increase greenery by 50 per cent in the state by 2029. He said that it was responsibility of the people to protect the plantations.
District Collector Kona Sasidhar said that it was responsibility of every citizen to protect the saplings. He explained need to plant saplings to get greenery coverage.
MLC AS Rama Krishna, ZP Vice-Chairman Purchanchandra Rao were among those participated.
