25K saplings to be planted in Nellore

Nellore: NUDA Chairman K Srinivasulu Reddy said that 25,000 saplings would be planted in Nellore urban area as part of Vanam Manam programme.

Participating in the Vana Mahotsavam along with Gudur MLA P Sunil Kumar at Venkatachalam on Saturday, the NUDA chief said they were taking all measures to develop the region as tourism hub for attracting visitors. 

He asked the officials to focus on green drive in the city for reducing rising temperatures. 

Sunil Kumar said everyone should make it habit to plant saplings for improving greenery in urban areas. 

Mere planting them is not sufficient and it is responsibility to take care of them till they grow, he added. 

The legislator said trees protect from global warming, natural disasters and give shade to people. 

Conservator of Forests, Guntur Circle, P Ramamohan Rao appealed to people to grow trees everywhere keeping in view of future generations. 

He suggested to plant a sapling in connection with any auspicious occasion and administered Nava Vana sankalpam pledge by all participants. 

All officials, politicos and other leaders took part in the green drive. 

Sarvepalli TDP coordinator S Rajagopala Reddy and ZPTC member Seshaiah were present.
