Amazon launches fulfilment centre in Vijayawada for AP

Vijayawada: Amazon, the multinational e-commerce giant, has launched the first fulfilment centre in the state to serve the needs of people of Andhra Pradesh which is a happening state in the country.

Akhil Saxena, vice-president of Customer fulfilment, Amazon India, announced here on Thursday that the fulfilment centre will provide its  services to the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Amazon, which relies on latest technology to supply all the needs of people, has started a state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in a sprawling 20,000 sqft with 15,000 cubic feet of storage space on the outskirts of the city and nearer to the Vijayawada Airport.

Saxena said to media that there are about 7,000 sellers in the State out of which 1,400 are from the city ready to provide all types of products to the customers faster and with efficiency through this Fulfilment Centre.

According to him, Amazon presently has 170 million products in  hundreds of categories to supply to the customers. Referring to the fulfilment centre, Saxena said that the facility has solar power system to generate one MW power to cater to the needs of the centre.

He hoped that the Fulfilment Centre would benefit hundreds of small and medium industries. This is the first fulfilment centre in the State. The Amazon has already has 15 fulfilment centres in 13 states across  the country.
